Yes, in 2026, all preliminary and final rounds are open to audience members!

Additionally, there are digital pianos available in the Piano Lab for more extensive warming up before competing.

How and when will we find out results?

Results will be located on the competition website (under the “Results” page) and updated throughout the day, both for finalists’ selections from Preliminary rounds as well as winners from Finals rounds.

If a division has both preliminary and final rounds, how does this work?

For larger divisions, students will be divided into preliminary rounds which occur at the same time in multiple rooms. For the preliminary round, students will perform both of their competition pieces (stopped at the maximum time for their age group) for the judges. The judging panel for each preliminary room will select a predetermined number of students to advance to finals. If a student is selected for the Finals round, then they will choose ONE of their two pieces to perform in that round. After the finals round, the judges will choose their winners.

How do we get our certificates and critique sheets?

Teacher packets will be in the Judges Room and can be picked up there once all their students have finished for the day (likely in the afternoon). All teacher packets will also be at the Winners Recital, so teachers can pick them up at that time too. We will not be mailing them after the event. We also request that TEACHERS be the one to pick up their packets containing all their students’ judging sheets and certificates rather than students or parents. If it is essential that a parent be the one to pick up, then we will need a written request from the teacher enabling a parent to pick up the packet.

Which students will perform in the Winners Recital?

All students who are awarded 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in each division should plan on attending and performing in the Winners Recital. Students selected as “Honorable Mention” will be listed as such in the program but will not perform in the recital.

What should students perform in the Winners Recital?

Students may choose either of their competition repertoire selections. In order to keep the recital moving, we do ask that students select repertoire which does not exceed 8 minutes in length.

In what order will selected finalists perform?

The performance order for Finals (for divisions that have both preliminary/final rounds) will be in the same order as listed finalists found on the Results page.

Is the Winners Recital open to the public?

Yes! Anyone and everyone can attend the Winners Recital which is free of charge as well.

Are winners required to perform in the Winners Recital?

All 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners should plan on attending and performing in the Winners Recital. There will be forms handed out at the recital for students/parents to fill out which is required for their cash awards to be given out.

Do students need to provide scores for the judges?

Yes! Students need to bring ONE original (or legally obtained and printed) score of each repertoire selection for the judges. Please remember to number measures, at least at the beginning of each line of music. Photocopies are not permitted due to copyright violations.
